Serein serenade, a song that is not played, A love that isn’t made, lasts forever, is forever. Serenade serein, a sky of cloudless rain, A love that doesn’t change, like the weather, like the rain. A draught such as this. A laugh after a kiss. A love you’re always with as you grow. A feeling deep inside, a tear that’s never cried, The dream that never dies, lasts forever, is forever. A draught such as this. A laugh after a kiss, A love you do not miss, ‘cause you know.

Druid Queen 03:50
The druid queen, a Capricorn, with hair of gold and hidden horns. The satyrs sat, with sardish eyes, reflections of the blood moon skies. The druid queen, who’s ways are wise, knows which words to emphasize. Her flowing tresses, trance the tranceless, inspire the gods, excite the masses. The swirling dance, minds metamorphose, though Now is clear, it quickly passes. The Druid Queen, in fading light, greets the dawning of the night. The wine she pours, from cup to cup, no tongue shall taste nor lips corrupt. Beneath the stars, forth flows the lore, from beauty with no metaphor. The burning thirst, but one thing quenches, she pours her wine into our glasses. The bottle bursts, the floor it drenches, forever binds the light it catches. The wood nymphs hide, just out of sight, while tomes of woven words take flight. Upon our brows, the legends cast, we’ll dream the dreams of ages past. The Druid Queen, whose ways are wise, knows which words to emphasize. Her flowing tresses, trance the tranceless, inspire the gods, excite the masses. The swirling dance, minds meet Morpheus, though Now is here, it quickly passes

Night Bird 04:24
You came upon a night bird, singin’ in the rain, So soft and melancholy, about the loss of a name. Your thoughts went to the question, though you knew it was in vain. You thought that they were comin’, and goin’ insane. Daily walkin’ in your rain world. No sun gets through to you. The light it comes from fire. And you think there’s nothin’ you can do. You couldn’t reach the answer. You thought they were to blame. They looked upon your face child, of you they thought the same. You sat upon a night bird’s perch. watched the beginning of a flame. Without warning it vanished, as quickly as it came. Daily walkin’ in your rain world. No sun gets through to you. The light it comes from fire. And there’s something you must do.

Fog Lifters 00:35
In the denseness of the morning come the fog lifters, setting the table with cups and saucers, losing the meaning in too many words, flying away on black night birds.

Garden 04:06
The night has gone, and drifting dreams are scattered by the morning beams, long the darkened prelude seemed. The sun has come, to burn the dew, the dust that was the morning blue, gone the shroud roun’ garden rue. ‘Tween the night, ‘tween the day, and who’s to tell the time and who’s to say. Asleep, awake, to give, to take, and who’s to draw the line and who’s to pay. To laugh, to cry, a truth, a lie, and who’s to count the many shades of gray. The night has gone, and drifting dreams are scattered by the morning beams, long the darkened prelude seemed. The sun has come, to burn the dew, the dust that was the morning blue, gone the shroud ‘roun garden rue. As morning is the shoreline, sunlight is the sea, the waves of light are lapping, on lids of eyes asleep. The moon is but a light-boat, in the ebony, obscured by this day’s vision, a lunar legacy. Wed as Thoth is to the night, a lock without a key, until this day has ended, the moon cannot be free. The sun has come, to burn the dew, the dust that was the morning blue.

There’s a face in the sky, tellin’ me why I’m sittin’ here. Though I know he’s talkin’, words so slowly walkin’, get blown away as the sky clears. Sun comes through, an eye in the sky of blue, starin’ truth down on me. I can’t see the light, I am the shadow and the night, my fear eclipses all I see. The kind of love we all share is, The kind of love we all need and, it’s all around you and me. There’s a face in the sky, tellin’ me why I’m sittin’ here.

Neptune’s Daughter blue sea water. Her armor opens up to me. We both are children of the sea. Like flowing oceans, we are free. We dance to the soft salt melody. When she’s gone, she seems unreal . When she’s here, her love’s revealed. My weathered hand upon the wheel, On compass course, and even keel. Rocky shorelines, crashing waves, deep lagoons the sunlight bathes. The journey each voyager braves, to find the love that each heart craves. Which direction should I go, the winds will lead me as they blow. To let the love inside me grow, tell me what more must I know? Tell me quickly, tell me fast, must I search the waters vast? Will her love be my last, upon what beach will I be cast? The waves in the sky, soft ripples that lie in the light of the dawn. The wind whispers lightly, my mind knows, my eyes see- see them lap on the sun. The waves, and the waves, in the sky, in the sea, a corridor, a corridor through which I see. Neptune’s Daughter blue sea water. Her armor opens up to me. We both are children of the sea. Like flowing oceans, we are free.

The sun, the moon, the stars, familiar places that I’ve known. The sores that turn to scars, and all the faces that have turned me down, passed me round. Diggin’ down the dark road runnin’, like a river bound to course. Past the shoreline carved and cunning, leading from the river’s source. The words I can’t forget, the scripted pages of my soul. And like a marionette, I play parts in plays, meant for me, meant to be. Diggin’ down the dark road runnin’, like a river bound to course. Past the shoreline carved and cunning, leading from the river’s source. Try as we might, our lives in flight, moving onward. And through the day, all we can say, all we’ve heard. We look behind, only to find, moving backward. Now look ahead, the dream we fed, has come to life. As morning is the shoreline, sunlight is the sea, Darkness to Light the waves of light are lapping, on lids of eyes asleep. A draught such as this. Darkness to Light A Laugh after a kiss. Something we must do The Druid Queen, whose ways are wise, Something we must do knows which words to emphasize. A love you do not miss, ‘cause you know.

Druid Queen is a collection of songs we found hidden away on scraps of paper, shards of audio tape, and in the depths of charred spiral notebooks. Oh yeah, and we remembered some of it too.

Through the process of accidental recollection we were able to reconstruct these songs; splicing in more current DNA when the archival code was too damaged. Combining melodies and verses with as much reverence as possible for the original source material, we were again back in the cabin where the music was everything. It was fun getting to know those two teenagers again, and pushing those sweet memories through these rusty pipes.

We would like to thank the many people who have helped us get here. We’ve enjoyed your support and willingness to share this classroom we all live in.

We recorded this over the course of a year. It was actually a little less than 52 Thursdays; seven and a half weeks as the crow flies, and suddenly one day it was done.

Special Thanks go to: C.C., Rufus, and Sutton King for lending their shining voices to Face in the Sky.

Thanks to freesound.org for the ocean, animals, and weather.
